Calling all BBQ Teams, Food Vendors, Market Stalls, BBQ Competition Judges, Volunteers and Sponsors!


How much does it cost to register my team?

The registration fee for this ABA Championship round is $350 per team & $150 per team for the SCA Competition with a maximum of six members per team.

What does registration give me?

The registration fee for this ABA Competition includes entry to the Australian BBQ Alliance sanctioned Championship series round, ABA fees, a 6m x 6m site and 15 complimentary guest tickets to the Festival.

Registration for the Steak Cook-Off Association round (optional) includes entry to the SCA Competition, SCA fees and an extra allocation of 5 complimentary guest tickets to the Festival.

If registering only for the SCA Competition you will get a 3m x 3m day site for Saturday 27th July with no facility for camping overnight.

What are the prizes?

There will be over $15,000 worth of cash plus trophies and prizes to win at this years’ event!

The official Australian Grand Champion team is eligible to represent Australia as the country’s Number 1 Team at competitions both nationally and internationally.

Grand Champion: $5,000 Cash + Trophy

Reserve Grand Champion: $2,500 Cash + Trophy

Best Placed NEW Team (no team members with more than 3 prior comps with any sanctioning body): $500 Cash

What Categories are there?

ABA Championship round: Chicken, Pork Ribs, Lamb, Brisket

SCA round: Steak, Anything on a Stick, Burgers, Chicken Wings.

When is bump in/bump out?

Bump in will be Friday 26th OR Saturday 27th July and bump out will be Sunday 28th July.

Teams/Individuals only participating in the SCA competition will bump in and out on Saturday 27th July.

Your registration is confirmed once application has been submitted and payment has been made

How many spaces are available?

Spaces will be strictly limited to 80 teams. Once we're full, we're full! Please note - your registration will not be confirmed until payment has been made.



What kind of food vendors are you looking for? 

We're after vendors who are passionate about BBQ and are able to serve high volumes of food. 

How do we confirm a site? 

Register your interest and we'll reply with further instructions. Please note - Your site will not be confirmed until a deposit has been made.


How many people are expected over the two days?

Based on previous years we expect 15,000 over the two days.

How many food stall sites are available?

There will be 20 sites available.


Market Stalls

What kind of market stall you are looking for? 

We're after stallholders who sell BBQ-related products. From smoked honey, pickles, and thermometers, to all manners of seasoned rubs and jerky! We also believe that presentation is key, so an aesthetically pleasing stall is preferred and tastings are encouraged!

When is bump in/bump out?

Bump in will be Friday 26th or Saturday 27th July and bump out will be Sunday 28th July.


How many people are expected over the two days?

Based on previous years we expect 15,000 over the two days.

Larger sites are available for an additional cost.


What does it cost to be a judge?

To reserve your space as a judge a fee of $79 will be charged. If you are not trained as a judge, you will need to attend a judges course, held before the judging starts on each day of the event.

How do I get selected as a judge?

Judges with previous experience, who are certified with the ABA and SCA are preferred.  However, if you lack experience but have a strong passion for BBQ, tell us about yourself! All applicants will be considered.

What does my judge fee give me?

You will receive a T-Shirt, one guest weekend ticket, and of course, the opportunity to sample some of the best BBQ Australia has to offer!

When do I need to be available? 

You will need to be available during judging hours on Saturday 27th July (9am - 4pm) and Sunday 28th July (9am - 3pm). If you cannot make this commitment, then you can't judge.



Why volunteer?

Being a volunteer is a great way to meet likeminded people, gain event management experience, engage with the Brisbane community, and have fun! 

When will I be needed?

Volunteers are required to work approximately 6 hours before, during, or after the festival or more if they prefer.

What do I get?

Volunteers receive a limited edition BBQ Festival T-Shirt, free entry to the Festival, as well as food and drink vouchers.

Anything else I should know?

Our requirements are that you commit to and complete your rostered shifts, that you are 18 years or older and uphold the standards and values of the festival. In return, we will ensure that you are provided with sufficient training to carry out your allocated duties safely.
